THE EVENT

What is the Global Alumni Weekend?

The Global Alumni Weekend, or GAW, is IE Alumni’s event of the year: a unique opportunity to come back home and reconnect with the places, things, and people that marked a defining moment in their professional and personal lives. It is a weekend packed with activities in which assistants can reunite, learn, network, and socialize with classmates, other alumni, and professors, and involve their families with the IE community.

The GAW offers spaces and activities for every member of the IE alumni community:

  • The best IE content: Panels, talks, masterclasses, and activities conducted by IE professors and IE alumni.
  • Social cocktails & meals:  A cocktail with live music will be offered on Friday evening. Breakfast and lunch will also be offered forall attendees on Saturday. The event will officially close with a Gala Dinner on Saturday evening. Tickets for the dinner are sold separately, make sure you don't miss out!
  • Campus Tours: For all alumni who want to visit the IE Tower for the first time, or the second, or the third...
  • Class Reunions: This year, we are celebrating the Reunions for some programs that graduated in 1998, 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018 and 2020.
  • Fun activities: Unique experiences to create memories and enjoy with all members of the IE community.
  • Kids Area: Available on Friday, June 2nd at the IE Tower, and Saturday, June 3rd at Maria de Molina campus. Children between 2 and 12 years of age will be cared for and entertained while parents are enjoying the event.
Where and when does it take place?

The GAW usually takes place the first weekend of June in Madrid, Spain. In 2023, the dates of the event are Friday, June 2nd and Saturday, June 3rd.

Which Class Reunions will be held during this year’s GAW?

The following Class Reunions will be held at this edition of the GAW:

  • 25-Year Class Reunions
  • 20-Year Class Reunions
  • 15-Year Class Reunions
  • 10-Year Class Reunions
  • 5-Year Class Reunions
  • 3-Year Class Reunions

For further information regarding Class Reunions, check the "Class Reunion" section in this website.

I also graduated 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 years ago. Why is my class not having a Class Reunion? Can my class be included in the Class Reunion list?

Class Reunion planning requires at least six months in advance, because we build Class Reunion Committees with one or two representatives from each section per intake, and they support us with spreading the word to their class and with planning activities around the ones we organize at the GAW. Many people also travel for this occasion, which is why planning in advance is important.

This time around, we encourage you to come to the GAW with as many people of your class as possible, get a feel of what this event is like, and start getting excited for your next milestone anniversary (3, 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years).

We are currently working very hard to establish the IE Class Reunion tradition! Since we need help from alumni to organize class reunions: are you interested in being part of your future Class Reunion organizing committee? If so, please send us an email to globalalumniweekend@ie.edu.

We look forward to seeing you at the GAW 2023!

Can I attend even if I’m not celebrating my Class Reunion?

Absolutely! As mentioned before, all IE alumni are welcome to be part of the GAW. We encourage you to register and to spread the word among your classmates and friends, the more the merrier!

Can I come with my partner and children? Do they have to pay?

Partners and children are welcome! Your family is an important part of the IE alumni community. Partners do need to purchase a ticket. For this, we have created special prices (two- person ticket) in case you're coming with your partner. On Friday and Saturday, there will also be a space available with activities designed for kids ages 2 to 12 on IE Campuses, while you are enjoying the activities. Don’t forget to enroll your child when you register to the event.

Is there a dress code?
